Launching a website is the easy part in blogging for most bloggers. Getting the attention or the traffic to your blog requires time and sweat. But it does not mean that you will get traffic If you don’t apply necessary marketing and SEO tactics to your blog. The biggest worry for most bloggers is “No one cares about my blog or its content”. This is usually due to lack of marketing and SEO skills and sometimes due to marketing and SEO mistakes. In this article, I will explain how to increase traffic to your blog or website. Follow these steps to increase your blog traffic.

1. Increase Website Backlinks

Backlinks are links incoming to your blog. When google bots crawl the website, it also crawls the links in the article and pages. So If the google crawls another website and has a link to your blog it crawls that link as well. In a nutshell, increase in backlinks to your blog means that your website ranking in google will increase and your website traffic will also increase. To get more backlinks follow these strategies.

  • Guest blogging
  • Answering questions in do-follow forums (don’t spam)
  • Commenting on blogs (don’t spam)
  • Reviewing Products (you might get backlinks in return)
  • Publishing Free Plugins and Themes

As creating backlinks is one of the most important, there are precautions that you should take into account. If you don’t, it might do more harm than good. First of all, never spam on blogs and forums. Spamming I meant by commenting like “please visit this link”, “www.mywebsite.com” or another raw link posting. Google considers this as spam and penalises you for spamming. Examples of reasonable usage of links in forums are like giving a good detailed answer to the questions in the forum and giving reference to a link or you can say something like if you want to know more about your question, read this article linking to that article.

2. Social Media Posting

Posting your new articles to social media is one of the best ways to increase traffic to your blog. Millions of users use facebook, twitter, google plus.etc for getting news updates and articles. They discover new communities and pages for this purpose. Building a facebook page, twitter account.etc will get you regular article link clicks. But only if you post them to social media. You must be thinking, it is not possible to post every article I write to facebook, twitter, Google+, Linkedin.etc

Actually, there is a way to automate the process of posting to social networks. All you need to do is install jetpack and activate Publicize. Then connect to social networks in Setting>sharing.

3. Advertising

This is one of the best ways to increase traffic to your website. Advertising your content in other places can increase the website traffic. This tactic may even get you regular visitors depending on the quality of your content. You can use advertising networks like facebook and twitter to get article reads and ad networks like Adwords and bing ads for direct website visits. For bloggers, I recommend using facebook ads for website posts. So you will get people to read your articles. If you wish to increase traffic without advertising, then continue reading the post.

4. Better website view and User experience

Who would love to see a website which loads more than in 10 seconds and a website with eye disturbing theme and colours? Of course, no one will dare to visit that website ever again even the content in the website is good. Increase the page loading time using caching, good hosting and optimising images. According to most researchers, users will leave the page If it takes more than 5 seconds to load. Also, install a good responsive theme with a better user experience. Use widgets and menus to build a better navigation improving the user experience.
